Sidmouth Jazz & Blues website strikes a chord at first festival

While the UK was celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Eonic Digital team also enjoyed the culmination of months of hard work supporting the Sidmouth International Jazz and Blues Festival's digital strategy.

The goal for the project was to deliver a website that met the festival’s needs and provided seamless functionality while supporting the event’s social media strategy.

The festival website was developed to provide Ecommerce functionality and enable tickets to be generated without the need for a third-party box office

A fusion of features

Built on Protean CMS, the website officially launched in March 2022 when the festival tickets went on sale.

Our favourite features include:

  • Generating and emailing PDF tickets to the buyer within the website, removing the need for the festival organisers to use a third-party box office and pay the associated fees.

  • Each event was formatted to allow Google to read the details and feature in its Sidmouth event listings.

  • Every ticket contained a unique QR code which festival staff could scan to check its validity before allowing entry to the event.

A donations facility was developed, again using a QR code. Festival visitors could scan the code with their phone and be taken directly to the website donation page.

“It has been a pleasure working with Trevor and his team on our digital strategy for the first-ever Sidmouth International Jazz and Blues Festival. Their hard work, innovation and can-do attitude helped us create a website that ticked all the boxes for our needs and their support with social media posting at the festival was an added bonus for our busy events team.
“We look forward to continuing our relationship with Eonic Digital to help us plan and deliver next year’s digital strategy for the festival.”
 Ian Bowden, Festival Director

Socials on a grand scale

A key factor to any festival’s success is ticket sales. For the Sidmouth Festival this was mainly driven via social media using a mixture of paid-for and organic posts on Facebook. We also supported the social media strategy during the festival to add variety to the Facebook feed.

Analytics augmented

So, did Eonic Digital’s input make a digital difference? The stats suggest it did with the website gaining more than 84,000 views since launch, a 116% increase in views during the festival and a 26% increase in followers on the festival’s Facebook page during the event.

“We are delighted to have been involved with the launch of a brand-new festival at a very difficult time in the music industry, and helping to make this event a success.”
Trevor Spink, Eonic Digital Managing Partner

Work has already begun on the next Sidmouth Jazz Festival and the Eonic Digital team look forward to working with the festival organisers to help them evolve their digital strategy for 2023.

  • The Sidmouth International Jazz and Blues Festival returns next year from May 25-29. To keep up to date with the latest announcements, follow them on Facebook and Instagram or visit sidmouthjazz.com.
